THE HOUSE

The recently (2001) built to American standards home is constructed of all brick walls measuring 30 centimeters in thickness and tile (with beams and ceilings of tropical hardwood) measuring 658 sq. meters under roof. The style is Territorial/Colonial. It is grand! There are two bedrooms both in suite, 2.5 bathrooms, a 'mirador' which overlooks all (to be reached by spiral staircase of hardwood)........... 2 car carport, workroom......... the large utility and open kitchen have countertops of black marble. The kitchen has a glass top stove in the cooking and snack island.

The entry and living rooms boast large and open arches. In a corner of the living room is the beehive fireplace............
The office is joined by an arch to the gymnasium.
This opens onto a large bathroom with bidet, Jacuzzi, and shower stall......

This wing of the house is private, the other bedroom is located on the other side of an inside garden.
In this interior garden grow palm trees and tropical plants. There are two gallerias (porches) one at the entrance and the other huge one in the rear for dancing, parties, lounging in the hammock.

All cabinetry (cupboards, desks, sewing cabinet, etc) and doors are solid tropical hardwood. There are many overhead fans and the house is heated/cooled by 6 heat pump air conditioners so that it is always comfortable All of the large windows have double panes with screens.............
Domestic water comes from a 70 meters deep well that flows about 70 gallons per minute. It is the purest and sweetest water in the world.......... Electrical power comes through the privately owned three phase power transformer, and the average cost per month (for both the main house and the caretaker's cottage plus pumping the water) is less than $100. The property tax for this over 21 acre (8.5 ha.) parcel, which includes also the caretaker cottage, is unbelievably only $5. annually! The extremely low cost of labor, taxes, and energy provide Paraguayan residents with the world’s lowest cost of living.

The property has one hectare of an eighty year old variety of coffee trees growing beneath the shade of ancient and huge Timbo trees. This coffee is considered to be the best in the world. The property also has large plantings of producing tropical fruit trees, mangoes, guavas, avocados, all varieties of citrus, litchi, bananas, plus producing coconut palms. The orchid garden and banana grove are nice.
There are TV, phone, and Internet services as well as intercom from the house to the large galleria. The hidden and park like setting of the home is surrounded by palms, flowering trees from all over the world. All the property is completely fenced with cement posts and 5 strands barbed wire. There are walk-in aviaries for toucans, macaws, and parrots. Wild howler monkeys live in the trees around the house. They are quite tame, often howling, and always begging for a handout. A real paradise for nature lovers.
